The problem of calculating a player's individual score distribution in Swiss tournaments is easy when all players have the same grade, but rapidly gets very complicated when players have different grades. However, for Swiss tournaments of 2 rounds with either 4 or 6 players an analytic solution is tractable (for any arbitrary grade distribution and win probability). A McMahon tournament can be constructed as a collection of mini Swiss tournaments, so it is possible to test McMahon pairing algorithms using these special cases.
