The resulting shape in the solution to this problem is called the "Caterpillar connection" according to John Fairbairn. I'd like to create a page for this shape, but I'm still trying to figure out what exactly qualifies as a "Caterpillar connection", and also the origin of the term. I believe Fairbairn coined this in his "Gateway to All Marvels" ebook version of the Xuan Xuan Qijing, but I'm not sure. Anyone with more info about this, go ahead and pipe in here, or just create the page. Otherwise, I'm going to wait till I've made it through more of the ebook before I create the page. --gnostic?
