When a five year old, never edited homepage is changed by an IP with all or most content removed, I usually consider it legitimate. When all content is removed I take it as a delete request, when some content is removed I take it that the person may want a to give less information out. Telling people to login to legitimately edit their homepages likely doesn't work after five years - we never got an answer to such requests (people don't imagine we just reinstate the old homepage after they were clearing it). Which basically means, we not only keep all old homepages, we resist to changing them as well.
