The title says it all: on the front page of SL (or everywhere else), when I click the "Search" or "In titles" buttons, I get an "error 404" page with some technical details I don't care about :
http://senseis.xmp.net/?searchstring=&fullsearch.x=24&fullsearch.y=7&fullsearch=full
I understand the notion of HTML POST form, and all that, but still, I feel like this is poor user interface design. IMNSHO, the user should be redirected to the nice Find Page page.
...my two cents
Worked fine for me just now. It looks like you are searching for an empty string. Maybe that's the problem?
that's my point: the bug shows up when you click on that button without entering any text.
call it "searching for an empty string" if you like, but the user (me) doesn't perceive it that way.
Yes, I agree that this is a bug. It is not intuitive for users that clicking a "Search" button/image should give a 404 error. With no search string, the user should be redirected to the Find Page
Fixed. Instead of redirecting to FindPage, it goes straight to the search page itself.
Note: due to caching, your browser may not show the changes on all pages. In that case force a reload of the page (shift+reload or ctrl+reload depending on your browser).
Thanks Arno. good work, as always :-)
just as a matter of curiosity: why did you choose to redirect the user to that quite arid "search page", instead of the more beginner-friendly FindPage ?
no special reason. I've changed it now to redirect to FindPage.
(Force reload of pages you have visited recently to see the change.)
