Since DGS is the first implementation of this particular variant, I titled this page after DGS and described it as DGS implemented it.
It could be called something generic like "Limited Fischer Time" with 3 parameters: Base, Increment and Limit. Base and Increment are as described before. Limit sets an upper limit on the amount of time that may be accumulated.
It so happens that DGS sets Base and Limit to the same value. There are of course possible inconsistent settings with this definition when Limit is less than Base, so maybe Limit should be a number added to Base to get the max accumulated time.
(Even though I could find no reasonable documentation of features on OGS,) by opening a new game I could see that OGS implements the more general variation by defining 3 parameters: Initial, Increment, and Max Time Cap. So I think it may be better to change this topic to a more general name of "Limited Fischer" or "Capped Fischer" and then refer to the 2 implementations of DGS and OGS (and any other if they exist.)
Comments?
Generalizing the name sound like a good idea, the idea was not invented by DGS, I think. I like "Capped Fischer" better than "Limited Fischer", and perhaps "Fischer with Upper Bound" would be even better.
Thanks, I found that Little Golem also implements a "Capped Fischer" and it predates DGS. I should have remembered that as I first played turn-based Go on Little Golem when it was created and switched to DGS when it was created a little later.
Any other references that are even older?
"Fischer with Upper Bound" maybe even better descriptively, but it is a little wordy as a name. But if more people prefer that, I would not contend it.
