LeatherScrollProblem46/Attempts

White to move

Herman: W1 might not be the first move you consider. It is surprisingly effective, however:

White to move

This B2 is answered by W3. Black cannot prevent the marked white white+circle stones from connecting out due to a shortage of liberties.

Connecting at B2 prevents the shortage of liberties. But after W3-W7, black is again caught by a shortage of liberties.

The other way to prevent the connection under is to play B2 immediately. Now, W3 is the tesuji white is looking for. After W5, black cannot play a due to shortage of liberties. B4 and W5 are miai, if black plays B4 at W5, white connects with W5 at B4, and black still ends up with a false eye.
