These stones are dead. Notice that the lone white stone isn't connected to the rest of the group. Sometimes this is called a false eye.

If white connects the stone, black just kills.

What about if black captures the stone? If white immediately recaptured the B1 stone, the position would be exactly the same as before the capture.

Recapture is Illegal!  

That sort of move is not allowed, according to the ko rule: the board cannot look the exact same way twice. So white must play elsewhere for W2.

So black's strategy is to wait until the end of the game, and then capture with B1. W2 won't be any threat, because the game is over, so B3 can capture.
