Bobby Fischer

Bobby Fischer (Robert James Fischer) (March 9, 1943 – January 17, 2008) was an US chess grandmaster and World Champion in 1972 (against Boris Spasski). The years after his world championship are referred to as Fischer Boom of US chess and a lot of Go players wait for similar events to popularise Go. However, a similar Redmond or Pietsch Boom never occurred.
