I have been playing Go for a few months now. I Started in May originally because a friend of mine from America had got into with the manga Hikaru No Go. I dismissed him as an idiot for becoming besotted over a manga based on a game and that it truly showed how obsessive he was. A few months passed and out of boredom downloaded the subs from animesuki (Hikaru No go is now of course registered but before I downloaded it was not). I loved it and asked my friend to teach me how to play.

After a week I beat him in an even game. The rest they say is history.

I joined up to the British Go association a month later and met up with the only other Go player in my area, a 3 Dan. Needless to say it gave me a reality check on my abilities, however the few games I played with him gave me valuable experience and encouragement and I am still playing now with the encouragement of a few others and should be receiving my first Go board in the post in time for Christmas.

I attended my first Go meeting on the 27th of November 2005 and beat a 15k in an even game.

I hope to become a solid 13k before the end of the year and I hope to become a 1k before I turn twenty. I aim high, but it is the only way to succeed!
