Alak of KGS

My nick on KGS is 'Alak' so I attempted to call my homepage that, but unfortunately the page already exists so I will make my home here.

Current rank: 2k KGS, and rising slowly :(

I 'discovered' go in a board game book about 10 years ago, but without knowing a person who could actually play the game I quickly got tired of being a 40k or so, and forgot all about the game. Then around christmas 2002 I rediscovered go in a completely new way through the Hikaru No Go anime and manga. And I've been playing and studying avidly ever since.

A member of the Hudson Valley Go Club, as well at the online Wings Across Calm Water club.

My favorite game is probably the first game of the Honinbo 2000 match (who says that 'If you don't know ladders don't play go') See Ladder Exercise 2.

As of yet I dont have anything useful to put up here, so I guess I'll just stop here. Just wanted to say hi!

Oh and if anyone is wondering, my nickname has nothing to do with Alak. It quite simply means 'wild wind' in JRR Tolkien's Quenya, and is a name I quite often use online.
