Name badge

A Name Badge is useful.

Information

  • Forename and Surname - so folk know who thay are talking to and can easily confirm they are playing the right opponent at the start of a game.
  • Entry grade (or non-player/blank)
  • Country

Any more information is likely to make the badge too cluttered.

The information should be clear enough to easily read - do not use a "pretty" font nor a busy background image.

Attachment

There is no easy and correct way of coping with attaching a badge to a person. Remember that the badge wants to be attached and removed many many times during the congress - (new clothes each day, sweater on / sweater off etc).

Note that "sticky labels" are always wrong - they can only be attached once.

Common systems include:

  • Safety pins - OK but they can damage clothing.
  • Clips - require a suitable pocket to attach it to - where would it go on a T-shirt or sweat shirt?
  • Neck rope - Some people dislike the feel of this or consider them unsafe.

Whatever you do, someone will dislike it.
