How to record the result

Each board should be provided with a results sheet, either distributed to each board before the start of the round or available in a pile in each playing room.

The results sheet should be an English language form with entries for:

  • Tournament name
  • Round number
  • Board number
  • Name of Black player
  • Name of White player
  • Check box for the winner (Black, Jigo, White)
  • Reason for the result
    • Win by counting
    • Win by resignation
    • Win by time loss
    • Win by forfeit - Allow space to write
  • Check box for dispute in case no result can be agreed
  • Black signature
  • White signature

A notice should be on display in each playing room stating where to put a completed form.

  • At Villach 2007 the result forms were prefilled with players' names, the table and round numbers and, very cleverly, the time limits for that game. This nearly eliminated the possibility of error (you only needed to fill in the result and sign the form), and was also great for the occasional observers, who could see the players' names on the form.
