Infrastructure

Infrastructure here refers to facilities that should be provided in the tournament area to make players' holidays a success.

  • Organisers' office - ideally open and manned 24 hours a day for 15 days.
  • A clear place for displaying official notices such as a disco, football match or rengo event or to sign up for a professional simultaneous game or an excursion. Notices to be presented as soon as possible to maximise choices.
  • A clear place for player's notices such as going home lift share requests or informal [ext] pits tournament announcements or even adverts.
  • Enough toilets for the number of players (600 players need more than 1)
  • A go bookshop (with clearly stated opening times).
  • A Souvenir Shop /Information Desk for congress T-shirts, local maps, tourist information, congress newsletters.
  • A cafe/restaurant near the playing halls for coffee, beer and meals.
  • A place to discuss games without disturbing tournament games.
  • A place to relax if it is hot and dry and another place if wet and windy. If these are nice places, you'll get several hundred people using them at one time.
  • Somewhere for smokers to relax and somewhere for non-smokers to be away from smoke.
