AlexWeldon: ViciousMan and "Shounen Jump" (2005-12-02 02:28) [#601]

Okay, now this is just getting ridiculous. I have SEEN English copies of this magazine, and the publishers spell their publication's name "Shonen Jump," not "Shounen Jump." Just to make sure, I did a Google Images search. "Shounen Jump" does turn up results, but only the Japanese version of the magazine. "Shonen Jump" turns up many images of covers of the English version of the magazine, clearly reading "Shonen Jump."

Personally, I don't care about the magazine, but as a Hikaru No Go fan, I'm sure ViciousMan knows how the publishers spell its name. Between that and the fact that he deliberately didn't tick the minor edit box (and not out of neglect, mind you, since he took the time to write a "subject"), it's clear that he is now just trying to annoy people. How long does this have to go on before we ban him like any other Wiki vandal?

Calvin: Actually, I don't see how any of these spelling variations add Go content. It's namespace pollution, and makes it harder for people who find things on Sensei's library to find related content elsewhere. What's next? "Shoudan?"

RiffRaff: Except... (2005-12-02 03:03) [#603]

I hate to interrupt a good witch burning, but... the "Shounen Jump" term on this page was present in the original version of it posted by Chris Hayashida. All ViciousMan did was add a link from that term to the Shonen Jump page. Please step away from the banstick. ;-)

I dont understand what you are saying. Both Shounen Jump and Weekly Shonen Jump are aliases to Shonen Jump. (Seems we are "missing" Weekly Shounen Jump? ;) ) Both are version 1 pages, which I understand to mean that they have never been modified since their creation by ViciousMan.

What does Chris Hayashida have to do with this?

RiffRaff is correct, actually. When looking at "diff" I misread and thought ViciousMan had replaced a link for Shonen Jump with one reading Shounen Jump. In fact, all he did was link a few things that had been previously unlinked, including Chris Hayashida's misspelled and unlinked words "Shounen Jump," which he linked to Shonen Jump, albeit while preserving the questionable spelling. Which is fine, and I apologise for that half of my attack... but I still think that, after everything that has been said to and by him, adding a Subject line to this sort of change rather than ticking the Minor Edit box is starting to look like deliberate antagonism rather than a well-intentioned but misguided attempt to improve the Library.
