Terry Stacey was a former 5 dan British Go player. He was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident while driving down a dark street in 1988. The BGA has a trophy named in his honour for the player who has the most wins above the McMahon bar that year.
He was British Champion in 1985 and 1986, emerging triumphant over Matthew Macfadyen whom he had previously lost to 1979, 1980, 1981, 1983 and 1984. He lost his title to Piers Shepperson in 1987.
His best result in the European Championship was 2nd place in Edinburgh in 1983 He achieved 13th place in the WAGC in 1986, and reached the quarter finals in 1981.
