Provide information on what means of transport exist in the vicinity of the congress and how to use them.

  • What can you get to on foot?
    • Can you get to the town centre / the local beauty spot this way?
    • Is it safe? Are there any areas to be avoided, perhaps at night?
  • Buses, trams and trains
    • Where is the stop / station near the site?
    • Where to get off in the local town.
    • Timetables or frequency of service.
    • First service of day, last service of day.
    • Costs
    • Where and how to buy tickets.
      • Shops? Machines by stops? On vehicle?
      • Exact fare required? Driver has change?
      • Tickets are for 1 journey stop A to stop B? For time from start of journey (eg 1 hour)? Within a zone?
      • Do tickets need validating on the vehicle? How?
    • Can weekly season tickets be bought (or provided by the congress)?
  • Taxis
    • Where from near site / in town?
    • Value for money?
    • Tips required / not required?
    • Haggle or fixed price?

Make sure that you have enough copies of the local transportation maps/information leaflets to provide at least one copy in the Registration Goody Bag, plus a considerable number of addition ones to give out at the Information Desk.

You'll probably also need a good number of the equivalent for the country/region as a whole. It's probably sufficient to hold these at the Information Desk.
