Japanese: 研究生 (kenkyusei), Japanese equivalent is 院生 (insei)
Korean: 연구생 (RR?: yeongusaeng, M-R: yŏnkusaeng)

A Yeongusaeng (研究生 lit. "research student") is a student studying at the Hankuk Kiwon (korean go institute) to become a professional player.

The Japanese equivalent is called Insei, the Chinese student is called Yuansheng (院生 yuànshēng or yuan4 sheng1).
