Notepad of Progression

Here I write down what I learn to go back and keep it sticky until really learned. It involves, among others, Tesuji and endgame.

Endgame Problems

[Diagram]
Yose Problem, Endgame 1

Black to play, how many points can he make and is it Sente or Gote?

[Diagram]
Yose Problem, Endgame 2

Black to play, how many points can he make and is it Sente or Gote?

Yose Problem, Endgame 3

Black to play, how many points can he make and is it Sente or Gote?

[Diagram]
Yose Problem, Endgame 4

How many points can each of the player make by a/b? ...And is it Sente or Gote? No Tesuji, no help this time.

[Diagram]
Yose Problem, Endgame 5

Again, without Tesuji and thus without help. What is the difference in playing a) black or b) white?

Yose Tesuji? Where? (50% solution)

Endgame Solutions

[Diagram]
Endgame Solution 1

It was a 1 point Gote move.

[Diagram]
Endgame Solution 2

It is Sente and around 13 points. I am not totally sure how much really, but think itīs a fair assumption.

[Diagram]
Solution 2, variation

White has a Ko, yes, but this is very heavy and is normally not played. If losing it: Black wouldnīt lose many points, white yes.

[Diagram]
Endgame Solution 3
[Diagram]
Solution 3 follow up a)

Black captures 1

[Diagram]
Solution 3 follow up b)

White captures 2

[Diagram]
Solution 3 follow up c)

Black captures 1

Every player has two captives, equaling the result in this point. In all, Black can win 1 point in Sente, or, playing out all, 3 in Gote.

[Diagram]
Endgame Solution 4

It is Gote with Sente continuation. Up to 3 it is Gote. Later it is blacks privilege to play 5 in Gote. Would white instead play 5 (4) imediately, it would have been Sente for black. So it is either 4 points in Sente, or 14 points in Gote - for whoever plays first.

[Diagram]
Endgame Solution 5 Part 1

Up to White 3 it is Gote for White, he has a Sente continuation. Whe assume that Black plays 4 elsewhere.

[Diagram]
Endgame Solution 5 Part 2

Up to black 3 it is Gote for Black, he has a Sente continuation. Whe assume that White plays 4 elsewhere. Compared, the difference is 12 points.

Tesuji

All Tesuji not belonging to Yose.
