W1 is the key point  

The key starting point is W1. As long as White has enough liberties this is a threat against the right that Black has to answer. If Black answers at B2, White forces again with W3 and then makes two eyes with W5. If Black answers W1 at a instead, White can make two eyes immediately by playing at b.
