Dieter: Positional judgment. Black UR 30 but with truckloads of aji at the points a. White LR 30 but invasion at the points b is not excluded. Another 30 points are claimed by Black at the lower side. White's left and UL have to compensate for that (cut at c) but maybe Black dodge with the corner invasion d ? Is e necessary or too slow ?

This is something I would do. First increas the aji at th UR in order to get 5 in place, then cut at the left. The territorial loss at the top is large, but White can create a lot of chaos still. See next diagrams after the continuation.

Not such a great result for White, is it ?

I don't know where this will lead to ...

Im pretty sure with problems like this you want to know for sure what it will lead to. So atari with 1 I can see leads to white getting something on the top or the right.

Ben's pathetic attempt cont.

Ben: I'm thinking white is alive now as the marked stones prevent black from killing the corner immediately. The thing I don't like though is that white's side gets damaged in the process so there might be something better (or I missed something and am completely wrong about everything).
