In 2019, he was the challengers' runner up in the 60th Okan, a tournament reserved for professionals of the Nagoya branch of the Nihon Ki-in. He has been the challenger in both of the last editions, the 61st and 62nd, being repelled both times by Ida Atsushi (reigning champion since 2016). In 2022, however, he lost his first game to Nakano Hironari and was eliminated.
Otake reached the quarterfinals of the 69th (2021) Judan. He was knocked out by Adachi Toshimasa, who had himself beaten Iyama Yuta in the previous round.
In 2022, he beat Fujisawa Rina to take a seat in the 78th Honinbo league (preventing Rina from becoming the first woman to do so). For his achievement, he was promoted to 7p.
