Murashima Yoshinori

(村島誼紀, 1905-1983) Nihon Ki-in professional Honorary 9 dan. He was a pupil of Kubomatsu Katsukiyo at first, then moved to Tokyo and became a pupil of Honinbo Shusai. His former name (to 1932) was Murashima Yoshikatsu (義勝). He invented the handicap system used in the Oteai where one stone corresponds to three-dan difference.

His style was solid and classical. In 1936, he co-authored a book titled "Beat the Shin-fuseki" (打倒新布石法) with Takahashi Shigeyuki, Shusai's brother-in-law.

Later in 1945, he began working as the Editor in Chief of the restarted magazine Kido. Authored the "Ko Dictionary" published by Seibundo Shinkosha in 1975.

His pupils were Kitamura Hiroshi, Sakamaki Kosuke, and Sakakibara Shoji
