This book is notable as the first Go publication in Japan with extensive commentaries by a top player. Before this book, it was customary to publish game records with hardly any comments at all.

In his Killer of Go, Sakata Eio reports a story from Igo Myoden. Wakayama Rikkan, a disciple of House Inoue, discovered a move that both players (Yasui Senchi and Honinbo Retsugen) didn't see. External link at New In Go (broken)
