Blake's Attempt

I don't see a successful reply to this for White. All of Black's responses to a White move rely on the fact that the marked white stones can be separated from the rest of the White group.

Instinct fails

The most natural move seems to be W1 here. After B2, however, W3 and B4 are miai. White's getting cut one way or another.

A Wilier Failure

After B6, White can't play at A due to shortage of liberties.

atulab's attempt

atulab: if B1 here also works, it should be better because it leaves smaller ko threats (if black choses to exchange these stones for the ko, he doesn't lose B1 in my attempt)

I don't think this works.

unkx80: I don't think this works. After W2:

  • if White a, then Black b.
  • if White b, then Black a.
  • if White c, then Black d.
