Ch'oe Kyu-pyeong became a professional in 1975. He worked his way up the ranks by winning games. He was promoted to 9 dan on 1 Jan 1999 after winning the Ipsin Yeonseung Choi Kang Tournament. LG Jeongyu Cup, Wangwi Cup, Giseong Cup, Guksu Cup Main Tournament, Cheonwon Cup Main Tournament. 4th LG Cup World Gi King Tournament.
