Yes Sir

Once, when I was setting up for a tournament in Santa Fe, New Mexico, I asked one of the kyu players from Albuquerque to help with registration. "Yes, sir," he replied.

As an American in my early 30s I felt a bit uncomfortable with that. "You don't have to call me sir," I said.

He replied, "Anybody who gives me 6 stones I call sir."
