Solution?

AWA :Maybe....maybe not.

Herman Hiddema: W2 is a mistake, it should be at W4 (see diagram at bottom of page). After B3, white is dead.

Solution?

AWA :Bulky five

Herman Hiddema: W1 is useless, white remains dead, so B2 is not needed, black can tenuki after W1

Solution?

AWA :Stupid four

Either one seems to work.

Herman Hiddema: W1 is useless, white remains dead, so B2 is not needed, black can tenuki after W1

Solution?

AWA : Alternate "solution". I think I've checked all the variations. White can't approach the capture...ko for life.

unkx80: If it can be killed unconditionally, why do you want to kill by a ko?

AWA : Note that the difference in the two variations in White's move. Therefore, White can salvage a ko.

xela: The reason why white can salvage a ko in your variations is that the moves you're giving for black are wrong. If black plays correctly then white should die.

Herman Hiddema: B5 is a mistake, B5 at W6 kills without ko. After this, if W6 at B5, black kills by playing a. If W6 at a, black plays at W8

Ko (diagram by Bill)

Herman Hiddema: This diagram is the reason B1 is a mistake and should be at W2. B1 allows white to get ko for life.
