The Big H
I play as "heatshield" on KGS, where I have reached the dizzying heights of 17k. I also occasionally go to the Victorian Go Club.
Lately I've been trying to play at least one, but preferably two, games a day. I'm also going to write down my impressions of the games I play, so that I can learn from them.
Various lame jokes:
- FFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUseki - a disastrous blunder in the opening.
- If stones are never moved once played, shouldn't the name of this game be Stay?
- If extraterrestrials play Go, their favourite tesuji is undoubtedly the probe.
- It always struck me as strange that we kill before we capture. Who has use for a deceased hostage?
I must remember this advice and think about it often:
"If, after a defeat, you reflect on its causes, you will improve your skill at the game, whereas if you flatter yourself on your victories, you will lose your ability. To seek the error in yourself and not blame others, therefore, is advantageous."- the Qijing Shisanpian
