Shortcut keys

Sensei's Library makes use of HTML shortcut keys. Note: not every browser supports this HTML4 feature:

  • in Netscape6+/Mozilla (Linux,Windows): press ALT+key
  • in Netscape6+/Mozilla (Mac): press CMD+control+key
  • in Safari (tested 1.2.1) (Mac): press Control+Option+key
  • MSIE <5: unsupported
  • MSIE5,6: pressing ALT+key selects; enter/return follows link
  • [ext] Opera 7: Default under Windows is Shift+Esc, but can be set to any keycombination in 'File'|'Preferences'|'Mouse and Keyboard'
  • [ext] Chrome: press ALT+key (chrome uses some of these shortcuts so not all of them work)

In the following list, replace "ACC" with whatever key(s) you have to press on your browser/OS combination.

On wiki pages

  • ACC+'E': edit page
  • ACC+'S': search
  • ACC+'R': related pages (same as title link)
  • ACC+'H': page info and history
  • ACC+'D': show latest diff
  • ACC+'J': jump to RecentChanges (for all those junkies :o)
  • ACC+'W': toggle the watch status of the page (only when logged in)
  • ACC+'T': discuss (talk about) the page
  • ACC+'V': if on a sub-page jump to main page
  • ACC+'1'..'9': the first 9 bookmarks in the left hand column

On FindPage

  • ACC+'T': focus on title search input element
  • ACC+'F': focus on fulltext search input element
  • plus shortcuts like normal wiki page.

While editing a page

  • ACC+'C': cancel
  • ACC+'P': preview
  • ACC+'S': save page
  • ACC+'M': toggle minor edit
  • ACC+'Q': show quick search area
  • ACC+'T': focus on quick search input element (if shown)
  • ACC+'W': go to wiki etiquette ;o)

On diff, related, watch, and history pages

  • ACC+'E': edit page
  • ACC+'R': related pages (same as title link)
  • ACC+'H': page info and history
  • ACC+'D': show latest diff
  • ACC+'W': toggle the watch status of the page (only when logged in)
  • ACC+'V': go back to viewing the page

On diff page

  • ACC+'P': go to previous diff
  • ACC+'N': go to next diff
  • ACC+'D': toggles diff view between standard and diff-in-page
  • Only in diff-in-page mode:
    • ACC+'1' .. ACC+'9': jump to 1st..9th change on page

Tab order

Most browsers support stepping through the links on a page by using the TAB key. Sensei's Library uses an HTML feature to arrange the order of the first few steps.

On wiki pages

  1. Search
  2. Edit page
  3. Discuss page
  4. normal browser order

On non-existant wiki page

  1. Create page
  2. Search
  3. rest like above

On RecentChanges

  1. Search
  2. RecentChanges profile 1 (when logged in)
  3. RecentChanges profile 2 (when logged in)
  4. RecentChanges profile 3 (when logged in)
  5. Discuss page
  6. normal browser order
