neutral threat environment

    Keywords: Ko

Unlike a komaster situation, a neutral threat environment (NTE) favors neither player in a ko fight. Such an ideal environment consists of pairs of equal and opposite basic ko threats such that each player has a threat or threats of the right size to make it indifferent who wins the ko fight.

Currently, using an NTE for analyzing kos is impractical for over the board play, as a rule.
