Hi. I am mostly a chessplayer who also plays a little Go now and then. I have played chess for many years, but first learned to play go at age 45 when my supervisor at work learned I played chess and introduced me to Go.

I suffer from what I will call the "intermittent enthusiasm" syndrome in Go: I get very interested in Go for a few weeks or months and play and study a lot, and then I don't play for a long period (sometimes well over a year without a single game). I learned Go over 5 years ago and I have spent around 8-12 months of that period (a very rough estimate) actively playing and studying the game. I am not sure what the reason for this syndrome is, but I have also noticed it in some other late learners.

I am currently (January 2016) coming off a long break (1.5 years) and basically starting over again. I'm going through Robert Jasiek's First Fundamentals and some problem books to try to get my head back in the game.

I went through a stage where I collected Go books, and have accumulated 900 or so. I am no longer am collecting at this point, but I still have some bookshelves full of Go books and magazines.

My Go Books

A very incomplete list of go books I own, categorized by language. (I may try to organize them better later.)

I have decided against listing my foreign-language books individually for the time being since it would take me too much time. (I don't speak any of the languages and it would involve some research and a lot of cutting and pasting.) Perhaps at a later date.
