My name is Markku Jantunen. I live in Tampere, Finland. My Finnish rank is 3 dan. My European Go Rating is currently 2304 (September 2008). I started playing go in March 1992. My IGS account is hylkeliini and my KGS account is hylie.

I go to tournaments a lot, both in Finland and sometimes abroad. The next tournament I will be participating is Finnish Championship Qualification Stage II in Tampere.

Our club in Tampere organizes the annual Kanikuutonen (Rabitty Six) tournament in the autumn (in October or November). In 2004 and 2006, Kani6 was part of Toyota-Pandanet European Go Tour?. In the autumn of 2006, the tournament attracted 91 participants. Cho Seok-bin was the winner. Cho gave an excellent lecture and commentary session. Kanikuutonen is held at Tampere University of Technology in the district of Hervanta. Many of our club members live within walking distance of the venue. So far we've been able to provide either private accommodation or inexpensive lodging on the university premises for everyone who asked. Any foreigner who arrives by plane is very likely to be picked up from the airport by car and taken there after the tournament. Tampere airport is served by several carriers including Ryanair offering cheap connections to Tampere from five cities in Europe. On Saturday, there is evening programme at Teekkarisauna with a fireplace and ample space for playing or just relaxing in addition to the sauna itself. It is our goal to make the tournament as enjoyable and well-run as possible. Welcome!
