Simple Way to Go

This is a guide designed to provide a simple explanation of how to play Go. It will starts assuming no knowledge of Go and hopefully result in a basic understanding of how to play. Some basic Japanese terms are introduced when necessary.

Equipment

An empty Go board  

Go is played on a large board with 19 lines across and 19 lines down. Black and white stones are played on the intersections of these lines.

The center dot here is hoshi  

The dots on the board are called star points, or hoshi, and are simply for reference and have no impact on actual gameplay.
