Gokyo Shumyo, Section 1, Problem 67 / Solution

Solution

[Diagram]
Main line

White 1 makes one eye and miai for another one at either of a or b.

Failure

[Diagram]
Failure 1

Descending is wrong: Black 6 makes miai of a and b.

[Diagram]
Failure 2

The hane is no solution either. Black plays 2 at the vital point, then avoids complications and plays atari at 4. Black 4 at 5 is dangerous. Black 2 at 3 more or less reverts to the solution. More explanation will follow. Please review.

Reuven: What's the anwser to wK18 after wN18 bL18 wO18 BO16?

Dieter: Could you restate the question in a diagram or, if you don't know how to do that, give us a clue to both the position and the order of your algebraic notation ? I failed to understand the question.

Question Failure 2

Hans: May be Reuven wants to know how to answer W5. At least I do not know how to kill now.

Dieter: It's a very tough question. I think B2 in the next diagram may be the answer. Still thinking.

Or maybe it is just like this ...

Reuven - Yup, it's what I meant... ^^* ;Is this note - "The hane is no solution either. Black plays 2 at the vital point, then avoids complications and plays atari at 4. Black 4 at 5 is dangerous. Black 2 at 3 more or less reverts to the solution. More explanation will follow. Please review." takken from the book? any chance that it's wrong and the anwser's in it?

Dieter: You're right. I forgot what I wrote earlier. So the second failure diagram is wrong: Black can't "avoid" complications.

[Diagram]
Much later

If B1 forces W2, then Black kills up to 111 at a. Dieter
