Eastern Airlines Cup

(东方航空杯世界女子职业围棋锦标赛) The China Eastern Airlines Cup was an international female tournament, also named the Dongfang Cup, organised by Eastair co., Zhonghuan Qiyuan? and Shanghai Eastern TV. First Prize was 90.000 Yuan (dubious).

Run as a 16-player knockout event, the tournament was discontinued after its first term (final games 2000-08-20 and 2000-08-21). The winner was Rui Naiwei 9 dan and runner-up Xu Ying 3 dan of China.

Amateur players Svetlana Shikshina and Diana Koszegi (both 5 dan at the time) participated as European representatives.
