Solution

W1 makes a placement and threatens to connect underneath. If B2 blocks the connection, W3 turns the eye into a false eye: if Black captures the two white stones, White ensures the false eye with a throw in at W3.

Failure

The atari at W1 allows Black a chance to survive by ko at B2, as in Beginner Exercise 33.

I thought the problems were suppose to get harder as you went along, not easier :) Maybe i'm just getting better!

heresiarch: Mayhaps, but it's also a decent rule of thumb that playing where your opponent would like to play is a good idea. I'm not sure how true it is, but my guess is that vital points are often vital for both sides, which is why this makes sense.
