About myself

Real name: Tôn Hồng Đức.
I'm a player from Ha Noi, Vietnam, nothing much special. As of 2010, I'm 22 years old.
I usually play on KGS, and sometimes IGS as well.

I learned about Go from some China's Kung-fu movies since I was a child, and was really fascinated about it. But it took me quite a long time before I could actually learn the rules of the game (the year is 2000, if I remember correctly). At that time, without a teacher, me and my friends had several... well, "intense" games after classes, just on the basic knowledge of "surround your opponent's stones to capture it". But it was really fun in its own way.

Not until 3 years later that I knew about the "above 30k" concepts of the game after getting the only Go book translated to Vietnamese at that time. But with my junior high school friends gone I didn't have anyone to play with IRL, and got bored of playing online after 2 years. I believe I was about 17~18kyu at the time.

But my love for Go didn't wither one bit, and it's really lucky for me that I got to know 4 others who enjoy playing Go like me in the same university, so once again I picked up the stones.

Timelines

• 2000: Learned the basic rules of the game.
• 2003: Actually learn Go seriously through book.
• 2005: Gave up due to lack of IRL opponent.
• 2008: Returned to the game.
• Feb 2009: Founded FPT University Go Club.
• Apr 2009: Reached 10k.
