The inside diagonal response of B1 to the 4-4 point double low approach is a special-purpose move that is applicable only when Black has additional support stones, such as the black+circle pincer stone in the sanrensei. The aim of this move is to forcibly separate the White approach stones and start a battle.

If W2 insists on shutting Black in, then B3 and B5 cuts the White stones apart. Just like the 4-4 point, double low approach, tenuki joseki, the Black corner is unconditionally alive.
