Yomiuri Shimbun

(読売新聞) [ext] Yomiuri Shimbun is a leading Japanese daily newspaper, heavily involved in twentieth and twenty-first century Go through sponsorship.

Began publishing game records in the newspaper in 1885. By 1910, there were more than a dozen newspapers with regular Go columns. Sponsor of the Nihon Kiin vs Kiseisha match in the 1920s, the famous jubango series by Go Seigen from the 1930s to 1950s, Meijin tournament from 1962 to 1975 and Kisei tournament since 1976.

Inoue Takuji and Mihori Sho were staff reporters of the newspaper.

This newspaper's English edition (Daily Yomiuri, discontinued in 2013) had dedicated pages about The Magic Of Go.
